Looks of a quirky girl

The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people-randy pausch, The Last Lecture

My face is on the menu!

Hi lovelies, it has been too long. I hope you missed me as much as I missed you. So much has happened these few months (nothing bad thankfully) but there have been a lot of learning moments. Being grown up is way harder than it looks! No one tells you how perspective changes suddenly, your whole outlook of the world changes. That’s not the worst part even; it’s the turmoil within that’s the hardest. Self realization doesn’t come easily and there are a lot of emotions to battle with, both good and bad.
Recently I haven’t been my best to be honest. With finishing school and job hunting, I am in a sort of limbo and yes, change makes me anxious. I am still assembling pieces for the next style shoot and I really want you guys to love the outfits (another worrying factor). So I chose to do a random shoot instead as a ‘pick me up’ believe it or not a shoot has a better ‘high’ than drugs and it is not self-destructive so yeah! I needed a constant reminder of my ‘bad-assness’ if I could say so.

Bad-assness re-established!

Self realization is a journey and my journey has so many little journeys within it. I am on a natural hair journey for a start. I did not chop off my hair when I decided I was done with relaxers; instead, I transitioned with a little trimming every two-three months. Safe to say am all natural now and so excited to be taking more responsibility of my hair. YouTube has become my best friend! I also had a bad breakout on my face earlier this year, talk about frustration! Good news its all cleared out now and I will post some of the products I use and my facial regimen real soon. hopefully people with skin like mine (normal to combination) will benefit.

I wanted to do a ‘denim on denim’ look but I could not find a statement denim jacket worth my attention. I thrifted these jeans in Ngara some time back and I haven’t had the chance to wear them. The white top was a gift from a friend a year ago. I like that it’s free and it’s a little see through which makes it perfect for the hot weather. This combo is chic, an easy throw-on, edgy and versatile.

A lot of people asked about the products Dee used for this look. Here they are:

Milani face primer

Kiss beauty foundation in warm (red undertone)

LA girl pro concealer in dark and fawn (for contour and highlight)

Kylie setting powder

Kylie eyeshadow palette (as blush)

Lime crime lippie in pumpkin
